Buxton Water
L'usine neuve de ‘Buxton Water’, où la fameuse eau de source est mise en bouteille, se trouve en bordure de la ville vers le nord-est. Aujourd’hui cette entreprise appartient à la société suisse de Nestlé. En effet la source se situe près du centre-ville à côté du Croissant renommé. L’ancienne, beaucoup plus petite usine se trouva à côté de la gare. L'eau, qui émane d'une source souterraine, est acheminée par un pipeline, à l'usine neuve. Une source différente fut récemment trouvée à côté de la route ‘A6’ à Cowdale à 4km de Buxton; un second pipeline amène cette eau à l'usine.
L'eau fut analysée et on la trouva à avoir un âge de 5000 ans – qui provoque la question : pourquoi y a-t-il un date ‘à consommer jusqu’au...’ sur les bouteilles?
Just on the edge of Buxton is the new water bottling plant for ‘Buxton Water’. The factory is now owned by the Swiss company, Nestlé. The source is actually in the centre of Buxton near the famous Crescent - the previous, much smaller, factory was nearby, next to the station. The water which comes from an underground source is now taken by pipeline to the new factory. Another source by the A6 road at Cowdale, was recently found and another pipeline feeds this water to the factory.
The water has been analysed and found to be 5000 years old – which makes you wonder why there is a ‘best before’ date on the bottle.
