Sunday 14th April

Free day to spend with your visitors

There are no organised events on Sunday. During twinning visits, one day is usually left aside, to spend time with your guests from Oignies, and maybe do something which appeals to individual tastes.

Sometimes various parties hook up with joint arrangements, such as communal BBQs or picnics. We have set up an area on the website here, for any plans people may wish to share, or suggestions for visits or activities that anyone might have. Please let us know if you you would like us to post anything here for other members to see.

Monday 15th April

Day trip to York - meet at 08:30 for 08:45 Departure, at the Pavilion Gardens Car Park

The coach trip to York includes a buffet lunch with a wide range of options. After lunch members and their guests will be free to explore the medieval city and it's attractions, or to take the opportunity to go shopping. York Railway Museum is well worth a visit, and has the added advantage of free entry. Other ideas for visits, along with some information on York can be found here.

The association is able to offer this trip, with lunch included, for £10 per person for Buxton members. There is no charge for French guests. This represents a subsidy of approximately £15 per member towards the actual cost . Whereas in previous years we have usually arranged a visit to a local attraction as part of the day, we felt that such a visit for the entire party would be impractical to organise in York. This subsidy effectively gives Buxton members an allowance of £15, to compensate for any additional expenses incurred in entertaining your French guests during your time in the city. It also allows people to pick and chose from the many attractions that York has to offer, according to personal preference.

08:30 for 08:45 Departure from the Pavilion Gardens Car Park, Buxton

12:00 approx. Arrive in York - drop off point in Leeman Road. Short walk to Panda Mami Restaurant for buffet lunch.

After lunch: afternoon in York with your guests.

17:00 Coach departs from Leeman Road (Same location as drop off).

20:00 approx. Coach returns to Buxton, Pavilion Gardens Car Park.

Tuesday 16th April
